Digital vs. Offset Printing

Digital Printing: If you want a sample of digital printing, simply look at a piece that you print from your inkjet printer at your home or office. Digital printing uses a series of dots printed on top of the paper that form an image. Recent year, digital printing mainly refer to laser printing.

Offset Printing: Offset printing is done on large presses that use plates and ink. As your piece is printed on an offset press, the ink bleeds into the paper and bonds with it. Because of the plates used, and the way the ink is absorbed by the paper, most people feel that offset printing provides deeper, richer, fuller color saturation than digital printing. While digital printing has certainly improved over the years, most printing experts would agree that it still hasn’t reached the quality level of offset printing.

Problem Installing Flash CS3 in Vista

For those who run Vista and tries to install flash cs3, you need to follow these steps b4 installing it. It works for me.

1) Run cmd.exe with Administrator privilege by going to Start -> type "cmd", then right-click on the cmd.exe and select "Run as Administrator, then click Continue on the elevation consent dialog). This will open a command prompt in C:\Windows\System32 (or wherever your system directory is)

2) Type 'regsvr32 jscript.dll'

3) Then type 'regsvr32 vbscript.dll'

Now I'm trying to figure out installing after effects in vista. Will gv u guys the link if it works.

Hi there and welcome back! Hv been pretty busy lately with projects undertaken on January. Well at least I could spend a lil bit of time during this CNY holidays to create and experiment with sth, and here it goes, a 3d type illustration with a message titled 'Desire' by Christopher Moon. I've created a wallpaper for it too and can be downloaded here(1440x900). Job Opportunities

Recently, I had a job offer to work in Spectacle Adv. in Kuwait as well as Swatch in Biel-Bienne, Switzerland. What an opportunity, with alot of compelling benefit, offers and privileges. I was offered to head the team in Kuwait while in Swatch, to lead the young industrial designers over there. Though this kind offers may come once in a lifetime, I still prefer to stationed myself in Malaysia, to help and contribute in the development and growth of the design industry locally. Had a tough decision to make initially, but what the heck, Ive already made up my mind, coz i just feel that Im needed here, apart from planning to build up my new team, as one of the steps to venture into the world of mograph.

Had to come up with a corporate video for Malton Berhad, one of the premiere property developer in Malaysia. The toughest job ever with tight deadlines. I started the job with some research on it. and eventually had to call for help from the rest of MIR team. Hell... this isn't a one man job, it's nearly 10 minutes of video presentation. It was a damn bloody stressed time I had, even one of the team member almost give up and back out. However, the moment its fully completed is the best moment of satisfaction, and we were so please with the end result. Thanks alot to the rest of the team, to Ethan, Bluey, Maev, and Pelvin for the hard work weve put together to deliver the job.

Few more days left to New Year, 2008. Happy New Year to all, to family, friends and fellow colleagues and team. Thanks for the support all these years. I won't be where I am now without all of you. There are so many things I've learn especially this year, with trials and tribulations, and I'm still standing up, striving towards the best in me. Extract & unleash the maximum potential I have...yeap, it may not be 100%, but as long the effort is there, and with faith & believe in myself, dreams do come true.

Ive learnt plenty through my observations this year, from my creative field looking at successful creative ppl to the top billionaires worldwide & Malaysia itself. What you see out there is all about effort. The more effort you put into sth, the better the result or outcome you'll receive. I don't believe that those who had achieve is better off than I am. Neither do I believe that I'm better than you, who read this. It's more of a neutralization process and effort. Everyone is equal, what makes us different comes from the heart, the good deeds we did as well as what we have contributed to our family, and the community at large. It's not about how much one earns, or the property that one possess, or the car that one drives, but it's about where the money goes, the contribution in any form, and the charity that we had involved ourself in.

I don't see and perceive people around as a normal person. I don't see you as being 'you'. What I see is a masterpiece, God's creation. I see you as the masterpiece, and there can only be one 'you' in this world. Just imagine how unique you've become. You're that masterpiece, so get to know it further, unleash yourself and define your purpose of living, for it's never too late to achieve in life. It's all about balancing our life, spiritually, emotionally, physically, and intellectually.

I can be sure that what you see in my blog or Quaintlab or even 2 and a half years, heading the MIR creative team is rather new, simple and fresh, and can't be compared to millions of creatives worldwide, who are so much better, with their recognition and achievements. Yes, they had achieved. They have good work. Great portfolios. But that doesn't mean they're better or greater than you and me. It's just simply because of their experience and the effort that they put in to achieve. You want more, you work more. That's all. You want good designs, good skills, or even good business or income, regardless of what you make for a living, you've got to spend your time on it, while others relaxing and partying, hang around with friends at the coffee shop and so on.

How can I achieve as much as people like Thomas Edison, Zidane, Karim Rashid, Yasmin Ahmad, Oprah, Steve Jobs or Steven Spielberg when I don't put as much effort as they did in their work. Opportunity sometimes appear only once in life. You don't just simply wait for it, but you work for it, you find and explore the opportunities around, because you realize that talent on its own is never enough. It's just part of the synergy. You need passion, talent, opportunity, luck, effort and great faith to form it.

We ought to realize that everything we dream of comes from Above. So always ask from Him, in good or bad times, not from others, apart from the effort. Remember Him, and He will remember you. N always live with gratitude, remind ourselves of how grateful we're, with what we already have, and what we already achieved. You'll feel the difference. Nothing is possible until you made it so.

Experimental Splash Revisited

I think it's about time for me to reactivate my flash knowledge and explore it while doing some experimental works. I've just uploaded an old file I found somewhere in my hard disk to my 'showcase section'. This splash intro was designed back in 2002 as an experimental work of mine after completed reading the flash 5 book. I plan to come up with something and eventually I just chose a random topic for an intro.

Although I've been in the web design industry for 2 and a half years, there is not much of flash works within this period of time other than a flash banners here and there, rich media advertisement, festive banners, and some interactivities. Very rare clients requesting for a splash page or a full flash website in Malaysia as it is indeed bad for search engine optimization (SEO). While Flash is widely used for actionscript interactivities as well as photo galleries with XML, everybody is moving towards Web 2.0 where things like AJAX, content management system (CMS), Joomla and Wordpress has become the tools of the trade. Facebook is one of the example and they really pulled a massive crowd to their website in a short period of time till they reached a traffic rank of 7 worldwide according to Alexa. Even one of the most prominent designer/ flash pioneer, Joshua Davis, is in a progress of migrating his site from flash-based to Wordpress.

However, since my passion is still in flash animation/ motion graphics apart from web itself, I'm gonna explore further and penetrate the international market. Though I'm so occupied with designing websites, I need to allocate some time to experiment with all these. Next move is to explore on the integration between flash and After Effects/Motion for Mac as well as Final Cut Pro, Shake, Max, among others. Click here to view the splash.

CS3 guru Michael Stoddart n me

Juz attended a photoshop conference in Mandarin Oriental Kl, yesterday. 2 thumbs up for the event. I would say its a whole lot more better than Idn DesignEdge in Spore that Ive been past few years. It's amazing on what CS3 has to offer especially CS3 extended.
They really show it this time, unlike some conference who invited speakers/well known designers and directors to just show off their work, which anyone can also view it in their portfolio section online.

However, its nice to get to meet new friends from different creative background as well as our creative suite guru, Michael Stoddart, who keep on mesmerizing the audience with all the tweak he did with Ph CS3 extended. Not forgetting Raymond Lee, Marianne Young and Christian Sterk for their superb presentation. Looking forward to see more of these kind of event later on. My First Piano Performance in YouTube

Eventually, being able to upload a simple video of me playing one of my favourite arrangement. Juz record it with a digital camera. The arrangement is based on one of Kenny G's song.. which is also a song from 'Dying Young' soundtrack in the olden days. I like to arrange simple pieces n make the melody/treble stands out. I like to play by ear, so I just listen to the same song several times to get the base and chord right. Have been busy with design, n don't really hv dat much of time to sit down in front of the piano, finding new tracks. So now im trying to spend some time to just play those musics to alleviate the stress. Next plan is to record my performance, playing while singing some of my favorite songs. I need a mike and an amplifier coz it seems that my voice drowning during recording, due to the loud sounds of the piano.

Just came back from Johor 2 hours ago. 1st time I celebrated Hari Raya over there. Went to Singapore as well, met some of my relative which ive not seen for decades so to speak.. hehe. The trip was marvelous and I manage to do some marketing and expand my networks ...tehe. Havent been updating my site for quite long. But Ill try to come up with something soon. Juz bought it last week at KLCC, this book is a must have for every individual who wants to improve & change the way they live & see things. It's the 2nd book I bought on the law of attraction after 'the Secret' book & video which was released so much earlier. I came across it early this year, after my friend, Deeno went for the course at PICC by Napoleon Hill Associates. And it has been spread out in newspapers & even in Oprah Winfrey Show. Check out thesecret.tv for more details. I suggest you should get 'the Secret' by Rhonda Byrne apart from 'the law of attraction'(above), which is more towards practical. It works hand in hand, believe me!

'5 perhentian' (5 stops) is another expression on a digital canvas by me, a dreamy-like artwork, incorporating bits of vibrant colour mixture, vector element/shapes & a lil bit of fireworks particle, on asymmetrical vertical layout. Sometimes I find it pretty hard to elaborate on my illustration. But what I like about this one is the difference in my previous artwork.

5 stops which represents 5 terminals(bus icon) symbolizes 5 decades or I would prefer describe it as a 'journey' of Independence Day that we've gone through. It could somehow looks chaotic, and at the same time harmony. that rather indicates Malaysians in terms of their different thinking & mindset, in spite of the diversity in culture, race & religion. Stops here represents changes, improvements, turning point, & a paradigm shift. With a bus? To me its more of a moderate & humble journey. Describing sth that everyone can afford & have access to, taking from one place to another, from one journey to another & from one time to another.

No matter who we are, juz don't forget who we belong to, & where we came from. There is no point of being stuck up, arrogant, & thinking that we're so great, with our achievement, or our job position, for it won't be in existence or won't happen without His permission. So do live with gratitude!

Malaysia to celebrate its 50th Merdeka Day!

31st August is juz around the corner, and we Malaysians are about to celebrate our 50th Merdeka Day. But when I come to think again. Are we really 'merdeka'? Have we gain freedom? To me its more to freedom from the colonist 'physically' as I would say. Not so much of a freedom of our mind, heart & soul. Try to think & contemplate people. Hopefully to have a clearer view on what do we think of Merdeka as individuals, other than juz another season of Malaysian flag hanging & displaying everywhere.

Recently Ive been working on 2 prototypes, namely Virtual Consultant UK, a UK company... and gabon, a timber company under Rimbunan Hijau Group. My team likes it! They've been asking how I did it! Especially the VCUK. I just said that i was too tension that time. So i let it out n express it on the demo. It turn out to be the opposite. Actually its more to pushing myself, being the main reason, trying to unleash my creativity beyond boundaries. I like subtle and contemporary design. with smooth, eye soothing gradient hues.

However, now im moving towards motion graphic/animation. apart from web. hv set a timeframe for it. n Ive build my team, consists of four creative mutants, including me, as the head of the team. Its called XO team. XtraOrdinary team. Starting from MIR as the platform, XO will involve more on R&D side. My objective is to take the Malaysian Design Industry to the next level, b part of the force, along with other designers nationwide. Support the local talents!!!

It has been for more than a month that I haven't been blogging. Got occupied these days with projects, personal & for clients. Hi Sis, if u happen to read this, sorry for the late post ya! I'm currently bz with deadlines at work plus working on my personal project. My new website, which I'll inform on this blog in few days time. In fact I'll be transfering some post to my new & upcoming blog, which focusing not just on my private life log, but design news, articles, projects, exhibitions, competition, etc..

Can't figure out much about my 6 weird things. Well, 2 to three will do I suppose, hehe. Still remember early last month, went to Faerie's blog to c what kind of game all this tagged thingy about. Well, if im not mistaken, we have to list down 6 weird things about ourselves. and tag others as well. But the ting is, I don't hv any of my friend who blogs. except for those who aready tagged by faerie herself. So i think Ill cheat on this one. hehe

Hmm, can't think much about my weird things. However, juz list down what I hv in mind.
1. Whenever I eat hot stuff, ill definitely have hiccup, n its quite a loud & strong ones. Im sure ppl who had eaten with me will know about it. Some even laugh out loud when it happen. A bit sad isn't it.

2. Whenever I have problems, usually I prefer talking to myself than others. This seem to sound like I'm insane or sth. or perhaps I'm juz a good listener to myself, or mayb some creative lad like me use to have this behaviour I suppose, haha, tryin to b conceited at times, forget the latter. But Im juz being frank about this talking stuff. Mayb that's the way i deal with it. But I'm better these days though. When I express more to others.

3. Pizza happens to b one of my favourite food. So, I can finish one large pizza at one go. n that's if i haven't eaten yet.hehe...is that weird? or a norm.

4. If I go to public toilet/cubicle usually, Ill clean it up first, since Im quite fussy about this, wash ing here and there...family use to say, 'mengalahkan perempuan'. that's my habit. Like an assistant toilet cleaner or sth...hehe

Ahaa, finally manage to post sth after sometime...hehe.
aargh, im getting older today... aready 26, however its a
very special day for me. yap ure rite lady sis, hv to be 1 year
wiser...yap, can feel myself abit matang aready.hehe

Juz wanna thanks my mother, for always being there for me,
thru ups & downs. giving me the advice, support n courage
& 4 all the positive things that i ever needed, and whose hope

Putrajaya Int'l Convention Centre - Design Opportunities

Juz an update on my work, currently working on designing PICC website. It's really an honor to handle this big project. Have to put my level best effort on this one. Congratulations to MIR for attaining this project and not forgetting the team, for working on great portfolios these few years.

Special thanks to Idzhar, Gilbert, Maev, Ila, Bluey, Jackie, Eewyn, Fairuz, Leonard...(u guys rocks!!!) Keep up the good work guys. Hope we can take the team to the next level, always advancing, exploring new ideas and concept as well as researching for new technologies, skills and techniques.

Sade Lovers Live

Juz got myself a Sade Adu cd. A renowned British/Nigerian jazz artist. She's one of my favourite. Really like the music especially in this live album, the sounds, beat, tempo, etc. Sounds like backdated right? haha.. use to listen to her songs few years back tho, when I was actively playing my piano. It has been a long time that I've not listen to this kind of songs, so sometimes it really freshens my old memories, back in college when I use to sing with my band, juz a couple of friends. Here is a very interesting story(Q&A) that I would like share, taken from email sent by my sis.

Dunia pada hari ini sedang dilanda krisis. Satu di antaranya ialah krisis nilai. Krisis nilai inilah yang menjadi sebab keruntuhan Empayar Rom. Edward Gibbon dalam bukunya The History of Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire telah menulis bahawa: Segala dasar-dasar akhlak dan moral di Rom telah runtuh sehingga ramai orang memilih jalan untuk hidup bebas.....Di akhir abad keenam, Kerajaan Romawi Timur sedang berada di ambang keruntuhan yang paling dahsyat sekali!

Nabi datang untuk selamatkan kita dari kehancuran yang seperti itu. Nabi bersabda, Sesungguhnya aku diutuskan untuk menyempurnakan akhlak yang mulia. (Hadis riwayat Ahmad & Baihaqi) : Nilai akhlak inilah yang merupakan landasan dan kayu pengukur yang penting bagi kita. Akhlak tidak menghalang kehendak-kehendak fitrah. Ia mencantikkannya. Sebagai contoh, Islam tidak pernah menyuruh kita menutup nafsu seks, sebaliknya menyalurkannya kepada suatu yang murni, selamat dan mendamaikan. Perkahwinan adalah salurannya. Alangkah indahnya firman Allah yang bermaksud: Isterimu adalah ladang bagimu maka datangilah isterimu dengan cara mana yang kamu mahu! (Surah Al-Baqarah ayat 223) Dalam bahasa mudah, selepas berkahwin, puaskanlah nafsumu dengan isterimu sesuka hatimu, melainkan dengan cara yang jelas telah diharamkan kerana kemudaratannya.

Saya harus mengatakan bahawa nilai pada hari ini banyak diasaskan kepada konsep Machiavellianisme yang dipopularkan oleh seorang pemikir dari Florence, Italy yang bernama Niccolo Machiavelli. Machiavelli, dalam bukunya The Prince telah menekankan konsep the end
justifies the means ataupun niat membersihkan cara. Asalkan niat kita baik, berzinalah, menipulah, khianatilah, menyamunlah dan begitulah seterusnya.Semua adalah halal bagi Machiavelli.

Laporan akhbar 6 Ogos 1999 juga ada perkaitan dengan krisis nilai ini apabila seorang tokoh koporat berpangkat Datuk, telah menceritakan di mahkamah tentang hubungan seksnya dengan seorang pembaca berita RTM. Beliau mengatakan bahawa niatnya adalah suci kerana bertujuan untuk mengahwininya. Itulah nilai yang sedang melanda dunia sekarang: Seks adalah suci walaupun tanpa perkahwinan!

Memang ada yang mengatakan bahawa pergaulan dan seks bebas ini adalah lambang kemajuan dan kemodenan. Nilai agama dan akhlak adalah kolot. Jika demikian, mari kita perhatikan hasil dan sumbangan seks bebas kepada dunia. Seks bebas telah berjaya merebakkan penyakit
AIDS, contohnya di Thailand, sehinggakan akhbar Der Spiegel pernah menjadikan tajuk AIDS in Asia - Killer Epidemic in Sex Paradise (AIDS di Asia - Wabak Pembunuh di Syurga Seks), sebagai tajuk muka depannya. Di California, hampir 61,000 bayi luar nikah dilahirkan pada tahun 1997. Kajian oleh Jabatan Perkhidmatan Kesihatan dan Kemanusiaan Amerika mendapat bahawa anak-anak luar nikah ini mempunyai lebih daripada dua kali ganda kemungkinan diserangi masalah emosi di dalam hidup mereka, berbanding dengan anak-anak lain (Rujukan: California Teenage Pregnancy Statistics).

Kita di Malaysia juga telah dimalukan dengan penonjolan kes pembuangan bayi luar nikah di kalangan remaja-remaja kita. Semua ini bukanlah sumbangan yang membanggakan bagi dunia moden.

Islam menekankan bahawa niat dan cara perlu betul. Niat kena ikhlas, cara kena mengikut syariat. Syariat mengharamkan zina. Nabi kita bersabda, Selepas dosa syirik kepada Allah, tidak ada dosa yang lebih besar daripada seseorang meletakkan air maninya ke faraj
yang tidak halal baginya! (Hadis riwayat Ahmad & Thabrani)

Saya berharap saudara Yang Ikhlas akan kembali ke jalan yang murni berdasarkan agama. Seks bebas dan keruntuhan moral bukannya lambang kemajuan sebaliknya lambang kemunduran dan kehancuran.
